In the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, all eyes are going to be on Indian senior players, especially Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both are going through a rough patch, and that is the main concern for the team. Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, while speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, made a prediction regarding Rohit's batting and said that he'll be under pressure to score runs, which might decrease his flow of going after the bowler from the start.
"The only interesting thing would be whether Rohit Sharma will play in the fashion like in the 2023 ODI World Cup, he was giving flying starts. There is pressure on him to score big so he might hold back himself slightly. Rohit Sharma because he is opening, they will try to get 2-3 wickets, England have several pace options. If there is slight assistance on the pitch, it can be slightly testing for Rohit Sharma. But, I don’t think they won’t score in this series," said Sanjay Manjrekar while speaking to ESPN Cricinfo.
Rohit Sharma is known as one of the hard hitters on the team and provides a good start in powerplay. He is accompanied by Shubman Gill, who plays his natural game. India will be dependent on the top-order batters in the Champions Trophy to provide the much-needed start.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be back in form: Sanjay Manjrekar
Former Indian cricketer backed Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and urged the fans not to lose hope in the players. They are some of the best batters in the world and know how to adapt to the conditions really well. Kohli is a stunning batter when it comes to ODIs, and the team can depend on him. He was the POTT in the ODI WC as well, which speaks volumes about his performance.
"I don’t think there is a challenge for Virat Kohli because he’ll come at No. 3. He has enough form and fitness to adapt. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be back in form, there is no doubt about it. This format allows you to take time and get a start. Even the opposition doesn’t hurry to get you all out like in Test cricket. This is the best-suited format for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma," added Manjrekar.
