During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2021, pacer Shardul Thakur revealed the kind of treatment given to the Indian team to put them under pressure. In January 2021, India created history by defeating the Australians in their own backyard. Thakur revealed that there was no housekeeping for days, and they had to do their own work after playing the match, which was exhausting.

"The way they treated us was very horrible. For 4 or 5 days there won’t be any housekeeping service in the hotel. So if you want to change your bed sheets, you would have to walk up the stairs for four or five floors, get the bed sheets when you are tired, come and change it and do your own things,” said Shardul Thakur as quoted by cricketcountry.com.

While the Indian team travelled to Gabba, the Australian government wasn't welcoming towards them. Thakur added, "Going from Sydney to Brisbane, we also heard the lady governor of Queensland saying if the Indians don’t want to come here, don’t come, we don’t want to host them."

India creates history at Gabba

After equalizing the series, 1-1, India played the 4th Test match in Gabba, Brisbane. On winning the toss, Australia elected to bat first and scored 369 runs in the first innings, thanks to Marnus Labuschangne's century. In return, India scored 336 runs with a total team effort. It was Josh Hazelwood who claimed a 5-wicket haul in the first innings. In the second innings, Australia scored 294 runs and gave India a target of 328 runs to chase on the last day.

The pitch was difficult, and chasing such a huge target was nearly impossible. Moreover, Australia's bowling attack was threatening as well. However, against all odds, India chased down the mammoth target with the help of Rishabh Pant, who scored an unbeaten 89 runs off 138 balls. It was an unbelievable win by the Indian team and will forever be etched in the game's history.
