Afghanistan's batter, Ihsanullah Janat, was banned from all formats of cricket due to match-fixing. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has banned Janat for five years as he breached the ICC Anti-Corruption Code on match-fixing. This happened during the 2nd edition of the Kabut Premier League (KBL) tournament where Janat was playing.
"Janat was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which involves improper influence or efforts to fix the result, progress, conduct, or any other aspect of a match. In light of this violation, he has been handed a five-year ban from all cricket-related activities. Janat has admitted to the charges and confessed to his involvement in corrupt activities," the ACB said in a statement.
The 26-year-old has played 16 ODIs and just one T20I game for Afghanistan. Moreover, he made his debut in 2017. This isn't a good thing for the player and the ACB, as he was quite young and could have played many games in the upcoming times.
Three other players are also under suspicion: ACB
Not only Janat but other players were involved in match-fixing. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) was informed about this, and they are all set to investigate who the other three players involved in match-fixing are. Once found, they will also be banned from cricket depending upon the level of breach.
"The ACB Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has revealed that three other players are also under suspicion for involvement in match-fixing, and investigations are underway. Decisions regarding their involvement will be made upon confirmation of their guilt," the statement added.
