Australia have been at their peak recently and they are even world champions in Test and ODI formats. However, they have yet to taste success against India in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in the last 10 years. They were last crowned champions in 2014-15 and India emerged victorious four times since then.

Notably, India created history in the 2020-21 series as they bounced back from a humiliating 36 all out to clinch the four-match series 2-1 dramatically at the Gabba. They were once again handed a 2-1 defeat during their visit to India in the previous encounter (2022-23).

Australian captain Pat Cummins and star spinner Nathan Lyon confirmed that their goal is to clinch the long-lost title this time. "It's been 10 years of unfinished business, it's been a long time, and I know we're extremely hungry to turn things around especially here at home," Lyon said.

Meanwhile, the holder of 530 Test wickets also revealed the name of a batsman who could pose a serious threat to Australia. Everyone expected it to be Virat Kohli or Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Surprisingly, Lyon picked youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been in blistering form across all formats in recent times.

"I haven't come across him [Jaiswal] yet, but that will be a massive challenge for all of us bowlers. The way he (Jaiswal) played against England, I watched that quite closely and thought that was quite amazing,” Lyon was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

"I had some really good chats with Tom Hartley (England left-arm spinner) about different ways he went about it to different guys which I found quite interesting,” the off-spinner added.

Known for his aggressive stroke play, Jaiswal amassed 712 runs in the five-match Test series against England - only the second Indian batter to score more than 700 runs in a bilateral Test series. The southpaw has played just nine Test matches so far and has scored 1028 runs at an average of 68.53, including three centuries and two double hundreds.
