Two years ago, the match between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 dramatically ended as Virat Kohli rose to the occasion and played a knock of the tournament. He scored 82 runs off 53 balls at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) against one of the best bowling attacks in the world. However, apart from Kohli's batting, the commentary during that period was brilliant.Β

Gerard Whateley and Darren Berry's mindblowing commentary during the sixes hit by Kohli is so far one of the best pieces of commentary. Whateley's 'The Shot of an Emperor' still echoes in the ears of the fans as it was spoken well during the match.Β

Kohli's back-to-back sixes off Haris Rauf is still etched in the memories of the Indians. An unforgettable moment happened for India when Kohli decided to take the 1% chance that was in his hands and took the team past the victory line. Moreover, his straight drive six was so beautiful that ICC declared it as 'Shot of the Century.'Β

Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya took down Pakistan in T20 WC 2022

The match started with Pakistan batting first as they went on to score 159 runs in the first innings. Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed scored half-centuries, helping Pakistan reach a decent target. India's Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh claimed three wickets each. When India's batting came, they were down to 31-4. The top order failed massively, leaving the crowd shocked. Then Kohli and Hardik Pandya formed an exceptional partnership and kept on backing each other throughout the innings.Β

While Kohli scored a blistering half-century, Pandya scored 40 runs, including one boundary and two sixes. He anchored the innings when Kohli took the charge. It was a wonderful and unexpected match since nobody believed that India could win from that stage of the game.Β
