India will take on Bangladesh from September 19 at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Both teams are super excited to play in the upcoming series since it comes under the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 cycle. To qualify for the WTC Finals, India will have to win most of their upcoming series since Australia are just below them in the points table.

Before the Bangladesh series, India's skipper Rohit Sharma came in for a press conference where he talked about a lot of things including the star batter KL Rahul and his performances in the past. Rahul is an extraordinary player who has had an outstanding record in red-ball cricket. Taking his side, Rohit said he deserves a chance in the team as he's a good player and injuries aren't under anyone's control.

"The kind of quality KL Rahul has, everybody knows. The message to him from our side was we want him to play the game and bring the best out of him. He has done well since his comeback he scored a hundred against South Africa. Unfortunately got injured after Hyderabad and didn’t play afterward. I hope he continues from where he left off in Hyderabad. I don’t see any reason why he can’t flourish in Test cricket," said Rohit Sharma in the press conference.

The only issue with Rahul is his injuries. However, as Rohit mentioned, very few players have a clean record when it comes to injuries. Rahul's performance hasn't ever impacted due to the injuries so he can't be blamed for that. Apart from batting, he's a magnificent keeper with solid reflexes, which helps the team in crucial conditions. Hence, he's a correct fit for the team.

Every team wants to beat India: Rohit Sharma

In the press conference ahead of the upcoming Bangladesh series, Rohit was quite clear on Bangladesh's desire to beat India. As per the skipper, every team wants to beat India and the Indian team don't care about it. The players and the management are quite sorted regarding the tactics they make before the series and consider all teams equal. This is one good thing about the team, and in a way, they stand out from the rest of the countries.

"Every team wants to beat India; they all enjoy that; lene do maje (let them enjoy). We have played a lot of cricket against a variety of teams. We will focus on our own game. We don’t strategize differently whether it is Bangladesh, Australia, or any other team. We will try and focus on our game," Rohit said.
