Indian Premier League (IPL) playoff hopefuls Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are set to clash on Sunday afternoon. Currently Mumbai are fourth in the points table, while LSG are sixth. Both sides have played nine games in this campaign with 10 points each. LSG posted a short video of Rohit Sharma turning mentor for young batting sensation Abdul Samad.

The former MI skipper was seen telling the young batter to work on his footwork. Rohit said to LSG’s middle-order batter, “Every day it is different. Today it was humid so there will be moisture on the wicket. If the humidity is lower and there is a breeze, then this pitch will be better to bat on. You don’t learn all these things till the game doesn’t start.”

Abdul Samad was seen intently listening to the batting masterclass given by MI’s former skipper. The candid conversation also saw Rohit teach the youngster the finer aspects of batting and how he can get better. Rohit also said to the youngster to play his own game in his unique way and to think more about the game.

Shaun Pollock lauds Rohit Sharma’s comeback with the bat

After a slow start to the IPL 2025 tournament, Rohit Sharma has hit two fifties in his last two games. Rohit hit 76 not out at home against Chennai Super Kings last Sunday. This was followed by his knock of 70 in the away match against Sunrisers Hyderabad that helped MI win by seven wickets.

Former South African skipper and MI coach Shaun Pollock, during his chat with Cricbuzz, was in full praise for Rohit’s batting. Pollock said, “We were just hoping that he would come good at the top of the order and he has managed to do so. It's the first time he’s got back-to-back fifties after nine years. The last time was in 2016, but he has produced it at the right time for Mumbai. They are peaking at the right time, and if he can carry on with the same form, then they have got a good chance.”

Pollock also added, “If he just has that extra performance, the legend of Rohit Sharma with someone like Ryan Rickelton, it adds impetus at the top. He’s got so much power and so much lethal hitting in the top and middle overs; if he fires, it changes the game.” The last time LSG played MI was earlier this season, with Rishabh Pant’s side winning by 12 runs.
