South Africa are all set to take on Afghanistan in the upcoming semifinal clash in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Both teams have had a good campaign so far and would want to cease their moment by qualifying for the finals. While South Africa (SA) are unbeaten in the tournament, Afghanistan (AFG) have beaten some giant teams like New Zealand and Australia.

Hence, they'll be high on confidence and will be looking to dominate the Proteas in the upcoming clash. However, there is one complication during the game, and that is the rain factor. There is a high chance of rain before the match, which might play a considerable role in shaping the pitch and the outfield.

Is there any reserve day if the match gets washed out?

While the rain threat will be present during the match, a few rules set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) might provide some relief to the players and the fans. For the first semifinal, one reserve day is scheduled for the next day, June 28. There are multiple factors attached to this. A time of 90 minutes is assigned on the first day.

If the rain continues, then the matches will be carried forward to the next day, and 190 minutes extra will be given. However, a new game won't be started but will continue from where it stopped. Moreover, if the reserve day also gets abandoned due to rain, then South Africa will qualify for the finals based on the higher group standing in the Super 8.

Another important thing about the semifinals and the finals is that an entire 10 overs have to be played to complete the game. Before the knockouts, the games were played until 5 overs before the results were declared.
