The West Indies showed their brutal side as they beat the United States of America by 9 wickets in Barbados. It was a key win for the hosts if they have to keep their T20 World Cup hopes alive. This win now has given the home team a chance to move into the second spot of Group 2 in the Super 8 stages.

The West Indians had begun the Super-8 stages with a loss to England. Phil Salt and Jonny Bairstow had destroyed the West Indian bowling unit to register an easy win. In their next game though the England team lost to South Africa to take a massive beating to their semi-finals.

After two rounds of matches, South Africa leads the table with 4 points from two games. West Indies are second with 2 points from 2 games while England are third with the same amount of points as the hosts. United States of America are last in the table with 0 points from two games and out of the tournament.

Qualification Scenarios for West Indies

West Indies now have their fate in their own hands if they have to qualify for the Semi-Finals. First, they must defeat South Africa in their game as that will give them their 2nd win of the campaign.

If West Indies lose the game to South Africa they must not lose it by a huge margin. They have to make sure that they lose by a closer margin and not take a severe beating to their net run rate.

Rovman Powell and his side will also hope that the United States of America can do them a favour by beating England. It will be a tough ask though as the USA side are battered and bruised after the thumping they took in Barbados.

With the tournament now in its final stages the scene is set for a blockbuster finale in the Super-8 stages. The race is between West Indies and England as the two teams who have won the title twice will try to outdo each other in a bid to reach the final four stages of the tournament.
