India beat Australia in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 by 24 runs, and with this, they successfully qualified for the semifinals. The Men in Blue will be playing against England on June 27 in the 2nd semifinal. However, the last position in Group 1 is still open for three teams: Australia, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Australia and Afghanistan's chances are extremely high, while Bangladesh is still in the contest.

On the other hand, in group 2, South Africa and England have already qualified for the semifinals. Australia's loss against India turned out to be a massive disappointment for the team as they'll have to wait for the Afghanistan vs Bangladesh clash to know their chances of qualification. On the other hand, Afghanistan has a higher chance of qualifying if the game gets washed out due to rain.

Let's discuss the qualification scenarios of the three teams in the T20 World Cup 2024:

1. Bangladesh qualifies if they win by more than 61 runs or chase in 13 overs

The upcoming clash against Afghanistan and Bangladesh will be extremely contesting and exciting at the same time as Australia's defeat, which has also opened the path for Bangladesh. If the Bengal Tigers manage to win the game by more than 61 runs or chase the target in just 13 overs, they will straightaway qualify for the semifinals and the other two teams will be out of the tournament.

2. Australia qualifies if Bangladesh wins by less than 61 runs

Another scenario is where Australia qualifies if Bangladesh wins the game but by less than 61 runs. If Afghanistan is batting second, they'll have to avoid this margin, or else the Men in Yellow will qualify, leaving the other two teams behind, which will be a real heartbreak.

3. Afghanistan qualifies if they beat Bangladesh

The final game of the Super 8 might be the game where all the hard work of Afghanistan will be paid off. They have a straightforward task to do: defeat Bangladesh in the upcoming game. There are no restrictions for them, or they don't have any target in front of them. They just have to win the match to qualify for the semifinals, pushing Australia out of the tournament. Hence, Afghanistan must give their hundred per cent in the game if they want to qualify for the next stage.
