T20 World Cup 2024: Roston Chase and Andre Russell help West Indies skittle out USA for 128

West Indian bowlers come back to form as they dismiss United States of America for just 128 runs in a key Super-8 match in Barbados on Friday.

It was a must win match for West Indies in the T20 World Cup tournament when they took on United States of America on Friday night. The two co-hosts are battling it out to stay alive in the tournament after their losses in the first of the Super-8 stages. West Indies were blown away by England while USA had lost to South Africa. 

United States of America ended the innings on 128 after they were bowled in 19.5 overs. Roston Chase and Andre Russell were the heroes as the two picked 3 wickets apiece. Alzarri Joseph picked 2 wickets while Gudakesh Motie picked one scalp for his side. 

Rovman Powell won the toss and chose to bowl first and made two changes. Shai Hope came in for Brandon King while Obed McCoy was back in the team for Romario Shepherd. USA also made two changes as Jessy Singh and Shayan Jahangir were replaced by Milind Kumar and Shadley Van Schalkwayk. 

West Indies bundle out USA for 128 runs 

Aaron Jones was the captain for a third game in a row as Monank Patel wasn’t fit. Andre Rusell struck the first blow when he had the wicket of Steven Taylor for 2. Roston Chase fielding at point took a smart low catch to send back the USA opener. 

Andries Gous and Nitish Kumar then added 48 runs for the 2nd wicket as the pair were aggressive in their intent. That stand was broken when Kumar went for a reverse sweep and was caught in front of the stumps off Motie. 

From there it was a steady procession of wickets as Alzarri Joseph got the wicket of Gous for 29. Roston Chase then struck got the big wicket of Aaron Jones bowled for 11. The West Indian all-rounder then dismissed Corey Anderson and Harmeet Singh off successive balls to leave USA reeling at 88/6. 

Milind Kumar and Shadley Van Schalkwyk then added 24 runs for the 7th wicket to take the score past 100. Ali Khan too struck a few lusty blows as he was not out on 14 off 6 balls to see USA end their innings on 128.
