Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are set to lock horns in key IPL 2025 game on Monday night. It is a key game for the home team SRH, because if they lose the game they will be knocked out of the tournament. Delhi, on the other hand who were leading the pack are currently fifth in the points table and need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Former SRH pacer T Natarajan is set to make is IPL debut for DC in what is a huge chance to prove his worth.
The 34-year-old left-arm pacer had played 55 IPL games for SRH and picked 65 wickets. Last year, Natarajan was one of the best bowlers for Hyderabad with 19 wickets which included his IPL best of 4/19 that incidentally came against his current side Delhi Capitals. One of the wickets included current DC skipper Axar Patel for six runs caught by Pat Cummins.
It was SRH who won the toss and chose to bowl first and have made two changes to their side. Abhinav Manohar and Sachin Baby make their way into the playing XI as Eshan Malinga also makes his return to the side. Veteran seamer Mohammed Shami is in the impact player bench along with Travis Head. The Aussie batter will be the favorite to come out as replacement when SRH come out to bat in the second innings.
Do-or-die game for SRH against DC
Pat Cummins and his SRH had begun the season on a high with a huge win over Rajasthan Royals in their first match. The slide started when SRH took on DC in their second game and went onto lose the game. Mitchell Starc had destroyed SRH’s batting with his maiden fifer in IPL cricket. SRH lost the last match to Gujarat Titans by 38 runs to put more pressure on themselves.
Delhi Capitals who are playing after nearly a week are on a two-game losing run. Axar Patel and his side have lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders at home to pile more pressure on themselves. Win on Monday night will take DC to 14 points from 12 games. If Delhi win with a huge margin they could move to the fourth spot in the table above the Titans.
