Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan posted a short video with his brother Yusuf. Irfan asked his brother Yusuf, “Sunday ko kya ho raha hai?” (What’s happening on Sunday?). To which Yusuf replied, “Kya ho raha hai? Itna duur jana nahi chaiye tha! Walk over de dena chaiye tha” (What’s happening? Why did they (Pakistan) go so far? They should have given a walkover.)

This isn’t the first time Irfan Pathan has taken digs at Pakistan ahead of a key game. The former India star has taken numerous digs at the Men in Green on social media. Irfan Pathan also had antagonised the Pakistani fans in 2023 by dancing with Rashid Khan. The incident occurred in Chennai, where Afghanistan beat Pakistan for the first time in the ODI World Cup.

Former India star downplays Pakistan ahead of Sunday’s encounter

Meanwhile, Sanjay Manjrekar downplayed Pakistan’s chances of winning against India in the upcoming game on Sunday. The former India batter made these comments on Star Sports while he was commentating on the Afghanistan vs South Africa match on Friday.

Manjrekar said, “Pakistan is nowhere near India's league. India have dominated them right throughout in recent times, and this time, Pakistan look even weaker, but that hasn't done anything to take the shine off the battle. Quality-wise, the England vs Australia match will be slightly better but if you ask any Indian and Pakistani fan, they would definitely say Sunday's match. The fever is there."

The 59-year-old also said, “You need spinners to succeed in these conditions and Pakistan only have one specialist spinner in Abrar Ahmed. They will bowl Salman Agha or Khushdil Shah but that won't be enough to trouble the Indian batters. Pace won't be able to have much of an impact."
