San Francisco Unicorns coast home to easy win

It was Corey Anderson, who had won the toss and chose to bowl first. Steve Smith and Travis Head opened the batting and added 101 runs for the 1st wicket in just 9.4 overs. It was Steve Smith who was the most aggressive out of the two as he was able to take each and every bowler to the cleaners.

Corey Anderon got rid of both batters for an identical 56 runs in a space of two overs. Andries Gous's 29 not out gave the innings the impetus before rain came down with the Freedom’s score reading 174/3 from 15.3 overs.

Akeal Hossein was struck with his very first ball when he castled Finn Allen for a duck. Andrew Tye then dismissed Jake Fraser-McGurk for 18 before Sanjay Krishnamurthy and Josh Inglis added 77 runs for the 3rd wicket.

The 21-year-old Sanjay Krishnamurthy was not out on 79 off 42 balls with five fours and 6 sixes. Josh Inglis scored 45 runs from a mere 17 balls with one four and sixes while Hassan Khan gave the finishing touches with 32 runs from 11 balls.

Speaking at the end of the game, Steve Smith said “We played quite nicely, we were in for a big score and 177 was a pretty reasonable chase, they batted well, it was a good game of cricket. Travis has batted beautifully for the last 12 to 18 months in this format. Today, I got a quick start and today he played second fiddle, it was a lovely partnership”
