Former New Zealand cricketer Stephen Fleming seems very impressed with the Indian selection committee owing to their smart choices in the squad, which could possibly play the 2024 T20 World Cup final game. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. are currently undefeated in the event so far, and they will be looking to continue the same momentum in the Super 8's phase of the game. The Men in Blue have won all three matches they have played so far, while their fourth match against the USA has been washed out in Florida due to rain. Team India has successfully reached the Caribbean Island for the Super 8's stage.

Notably, the Indian squad has used the same starting eleven for each of the first three games, keeping an unchanged starting lineup. However, unlike  New York's challenging wickets, West Indies pitches were better suited to spin bowling. India has continued to use two spinners and three fast bowlers, with Hardik Pandya standing as the sixth bowling option.

Fleming backed the Indian squad as well, sticking with the Rohit-Kohli opening pair. Additionally, he admitted that the squad had to make a hard choice to leave out an explosive opener like Yashasvi Jaiswal from the starting lineup. The CSK coach further added that if India plays the final game, then this will be their starting XI.

This is a team that in some ways is picked for the finals: Fleming

"They had to make some hard calls while Jaiswal was a great player. That's, leaving out top-quality players is always difficult and having a plan, and you stay to it when you've got great players sitting on the sidelines is always very difficult because it's tempting to keep looking where the grass is greener, but I like the job they've done, they've got through," Fleming told ESPNCricinfo.

"This is a team that in some ways is picked for the finals, in my view, it's a team that has spinners that can dominate, it has players that can dominate spin and we've seen spin in the West Indies play quite a big part, not so much in New York," he added further.
