The former Sri Lanka U-19 captain, Dhammika Niroshana, was shot dead at his residence at Kande Mawatha, Ambalangoda. This incident occurred on July 16, and the reason behind this incident is unknown. As per the police, there was an unknown man who shot the cricketer.

The 41-year-old Dhammika Niroshana was survived by his wife and two children. The police investigation is on regarding the assassination as the person who shot was using a 12-bore firearm in the presence of the family members. The motive and the person behind this are yet to be found by the police. 

Niroshana played for Sri Lanka in the under-19 World Cup in 2002 in New Zealand, where he captained the side. A right-arm medium pacer and right-handed batter by profession, Niroshana took seven wickets in five innings at an average of 19.28. He couldn't maintain his form and failed to be a part of the national team. 

India to play against Sri Lanka in ODI and T20Is starting on July 26

India is set to play against Sri Lanka in the upcoming ODI and T20I series starting on July 26. Both teams haven't announced their squad yet. Some major changes are coming for India as Gautam Gambhir has been appointed head coach. He'll start his tenure in the series against Sri Lanka.

Moreover, the selectors are looking forward to changing the captain in both formats, wherein they might introduce Suryakumar Yadav in the T20Is instead of Hardik Pandya. Reports suggest that Hardik's lack of availability is the main reason behind this change.
