Faf Du Plessis was beaming with a huge smile on his face after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their second game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 by 35 runs. The win came against the mighty Sunrisers Hyderabad who had taken the same RCB team to the cleaners in their last game.

While everything clicked for the visitors, the home team were left cursing themselves. The ultra-aggressive approach that had served the team well so far didn’t come to fruition on Thursday. Barring Shahbaz Ahmed, Abhishek Sharma, and to an extent, Pat Cummins none of the SRH batters seemed ready for the long haul.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will travel to Ahmedabad next to take on Gujarat Titans away from home. It will be a huge game for RCB once more as they have to win all their matches to keep their hopes alive. Sunrisers Hyderabad have a tougher test awaiting as they travel to Chennai to take on the defending champs CSK in yet another high-stakes battle.

Here are the top 5 worst performances from the match:

5. Aiden Markram – 7 runs from 8 balls

177

Former Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Aiden Markram hasn’t been in the greatest of forms in the last few games. The 29-year-old was looking to get back into the groove and score some runs on the board to re-discover his form. Swapnil Singh bowled a full toss which Markram missed and was out LBW.

4. Travis Head – 1 run from 3 balls

178

The entire Hyderabad crowd were left shocked when Travis Head was out for just 1 run. Travis Head went for an ugly hoick across the line off Will Jacks and Karn Sharma took an easy catch to dismiss the dangerous Australian batter. SRH team management will want Travis Head to give restraint to his approach as they head into the most crucial phase of IPL season.

3. Abdul Samad – 10 runs from six balls

178

The young batter from Jammu and Kashmir had the ideal chance to take the responsibility and play a crucial knock for his side. The rush of blood while facing Karn Sharma was what cost him his wicket to put further pressure on SRH. There is no doubting the talent that Abdul Samad has but his tendency to give his wicket away cheaply has been spoken about many times.

2. Mahipal Lomror – 7 runs from six balls

180

It has been a tough season for Mahipal Lomror with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team. The left-handed batter failed to deliver the good once again as he was out for just 7 runs from 6 balls with just one four. With few more games left this season, Lomror will look to bounce back into form pretty soon.

1. Pat Cummins 1/55 from 4 overs and 31 runs from 15 balls

181

There is no doubt that Pat Cummins has been the best captain of the IPL 2024 season so far. His bowling though took a huge beating on Thursday when he was hit for 55 runs from his 4 overs with just the wicket of Dinesh Karthik to show for. With the bat, Pat Cummins tried to stage a comeback hitting 31 off 15 balls before falling to Cameron Green.
