Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has once again proved they are among the best teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They beat the Punjab Kings by four wickets with five balls to spare after chasing a score of 215 runs. Thanks to Abhishek Sharma and Henrich Klaasen, SRH won the match and jumped up the table. The Orange Army is now in the 2nd position of the IPL 2024 and will retain their place if Rajasthan Royals (RR) lose their match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) or the match gets abandoned due to rain.
On winning the toss, PBKS did a sensible thing by batting first, considering SRH's performance in this year's IPL. After getting a great start from the openers, PBKS did get to a good score of 214 runs with the help of Prabhsimran Singh (71) and Jitesh Sharma (32). Sharma's 17 runs in the last over helped them get past the 200-run mark. For SRH, T Natarajan took two wickets at an economy of 8.20.
While chasing, SRH lost their most dangerous soldier, Travis Head, who had to depart on a golden duck. Arshdeep Singh's magic worked as SRH lost their first wicket on the very first ball of the innings. However, PBKS couldn't stop Abhishek Sharma from scoring runs once again. While Sharma scored 66 runs, Klaasen scored 42 runs and was there till the last. Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel took two wickets each but couldn't save their team from losing the last match of the season.
'We will definitely watch and support KKR tonight' - Henrich Klaasen gives a quirky reply
After moving on to the 2nd position, SRH will be supporting KKR tonight so that RR stays in the 3rd position. SRH has worked hard and earned the 2nd spot, which comes with the benefit of an extra match. Hence, as per Henrich Klaasen, the entire team will support KKR tonight.
"It's been a long couple of months, that break (of 9 days after the LSG game) definitely helped and we will be nice and fresh mentally, first into the playoffs and then into the World Cup. Supporting KKR tonight, we will definitely watch and support KKR tonight," said Henrich Klaasen at the post-match presentation.
