Ahead of the upcoming Duleep trophy 2024, India's famous duo Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will not be in action since the Board has rested them, keeping the injury scare in mind. The decision didn't sit well with most of the former players who suggested playing in the domestic game for match practice for the upcoming Bangladesh series. Amidst this, former India cricketer Suresh Raina has come in favour of the batters and said family time is important too.

However, he first said that they could have played in the tournament to get some practice since Bangladesh isn't an easy team in Test cricket. Moreover, their spin attack and excellent batting have wreaked havoc in Pakistan. Now, the Indian team must be extra careful against the Bangladesh players and their strengths.

"Yes, they should've played, you see we haven't played red-ball cricket ever since the IPL ended. Since we're heading towards a crucial Test series, one must play 4-day cricket and get used to how the wicket will behave on Day 4. I think they're mature enough when they will regroup for 4-5 days and start practising. Sometimes, family time is also important," said Raina to Sports Tak at an event in Delhi.

I am a big fan of Suresh Raina: Jonty Rhodes

India's one of the best batters and fielders, Suresh Raina, is loved by the South African great Jonty Rhodes. He was a great fielder of his time and in a recent interview, he revealed that he is a huge fan of Raina and followed him closely while he was playing cricket. Raina was undoubtedly one of the best on the field, running quickly and catching unbelievable catches throughout his career.

"I am a big fan of Suresh Raina. I enjoyed his playing days. In the past in India, the cricketing infrastructure wasn’t there to support the passion and love for cricket. Raina was someone who used to throw himself around the field," said Jonty Rhodes.
