With just 3 days to go before the Pink Ball Test match stats, there is a huge debate regarding Rohit Sharma’s batting spot. The 37-year-old batted at number four during the PMXI vs India warm up game in Canberra. Rohit could score just 3 runs and it is believed India’s captain will bat in the middle order during 2nd Test match.

Former India spin legend, Harbhajan Singh during his chat with PTI said that Rohit Sharma should open the batting. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal had put on 201 runs for the opening wicket in Perth to help India set a huge target. The visitors went onto win the game by 295 runs and take 1-0 lead in the series.

Harbhajan Singh said, “I don’t see Rohit coming in at number five or six. Either Rohit will open with Yashasvi Jaiswal, with KL Rahul coming in at number three, or he will bat no later than number three. Number six for Rohit wouldn’t be in the best interest of the team. Your top four in the batting order should be the four pillars, and someone like Rohit at the top would only add greater fillip.”

Harbhajan Singh picks his likely batting order for Adelaide Test

Former India legend Harbhajan Singh omitted Shubman Gill from the playing XI for the second Test in Adelaide. The 44-year-old has retained Dhruv Jurel in the team despite his bad performance with the bat in the first match. Shubman Gill scored 50 off 62 balls during the warm game on Sunday.

During his chat with Sports Today, the 44-year-old said, “I guess Gill will have to wait for his chance. You took Jurel in for a match and when he didn't make runs, you would make him sit outside. So you can't play Gill from opening to No.5 as well. It's a complicated situation and you do feel trapped. But it's good only. I feel they will play Gill ahead of Jurel. But I feel Jurel should be played and given the chance.”

“I would say let this s-Yashasvi Jaiswal combination to continue. Shubman Gill, I guess, will have to make way for captain Rohit Sharma at No.3 and then Virat Kohli at No.4. After that, it is almost set," Harbhajan Singh ended by saying while talking to Sports Today.
