SRH and RR took on each other in the second qualifier of the ongoing IPL 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, May 24. RR won the toss and asked SRH to bat first. Batting first, the Sunrisers posted a total of 175 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs courtesy of Heinrich Klaasen’s 50 runs off 34 balls, with 4 sixes.

Besides Klaasen, Rahul Tripathi and Travis Head also played the knocks of 37 and 34 runs, respectively. The veteran RR pacer Trent Boult and star pacer Avesh Khan scalped 3 wickets each, alongside senior pacer Sandeep Sharma’s 2 wickets.

While chasing the target, the Rajasthan Royals batters looked struggling against the spin attack of SRH. It was only the middle-order batter Dhruv Jurel, who scored 55 runs off 33 balls, with 7 fours and 2 sixes following Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 42 runs off just 21 balls, with 4 fours and 3 sixes.

However, these knocks went in vain and couldn’t help RR to chase down the target as they were restricted to the score of 139 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the entire 20 overs. Eventually, SRH won the second qualifier by 36 runs to secure their place in the final of the ongoing IPL 2024, where they’ll face the two-time champions, KKR at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Two spin stars, Shahbaz Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma scalped 3 and 2 wickets, respectively for SRH while defending the target for their side. Besides these two, skipper Pat Cummins and the star pacer T Natarajan also picked 1 wicket each for SRH.

SRH will be looking ahead to end their 8-year-long draught of an IPL trophy since they won it last time in the 2016 edition under the captaincy of David Warner. On the other hand, KKR will be eyeing their third title in the history of the tournament since they won it last time in the 2014 edition.
