Signs of worry for India as KL Rahul faces injury scare during net practice ahead of Boxing-Day Test

In what seems to be a major blow for Team India ahead of the all-important Boxing Day Test against Australia in the ongoing BGT 2024-25, opener KL Rahul recently faced an injury scare during the net practice ahead of the fourth Test of the series. He was seen receiving some treatment from Team India’s physio after he sustained a hand injury.

Rahul made it to the headlines for his outstanding knock of 84 runs in the previous Test at Gabba in Brisbane when the entire Indian batting attack collapsed. He got a bit of support from the star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja who played a 77-run knock to help India avoid the follow-on.

The video of KL Rahul getting treatment from physio is also raising concerns for Team India. The 32-year-old will be a crucial asset with the bat for his side in the must-win game to strengthen their chances of qualification to the World Test Championship 2025 final.

Notably, the Karnataka batter earned all-around praise after his decisive knock in the last Test against the Aussies. In the same line of events, former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik also heaped high praises on KL Rahul.

“I believe, in KL Rahul, we have the opener that India needs. I hope they continue to back him. If, within the next year, there's a series where he has a couple of low scores, I hope people don’t have a short memory. We need to appreciate what he has done and what he is doing today."

"That matters a lot. People often forget that many Test cricketers are judged on what they do abroad. And Rahul has been as good as anyone who has played for the country over an extended period,” said Karthik to one of the broadcasters in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India.
