‘Hope people don’t have short memory’ – Dinesh Karthik praises KL Rahul for rediscovering his form

Former Indian star Dinesh Karthik has heaped huge praise on KL Rahul for rediscovering his form with the bat. The 32-year-old was given a chance to open the batting during the recent tour of Australia, which he grabbed with both hands. Rahul scored 26 and 77 during the first Test in Perth, which saw Rohit Sharma move to the middle order. from the next match 

So far, Rahul has scored 235 runs in the series and is India’s best batter during the current Australian tour. The right-handed batter has two fifties with a best of 84 that came during the Gabba Test match. Rahul’s average in the current series is 47, and India’s team management will hope he can do well in the upcoming MCG Test as well. 

Speaking to CRICBUZZ, Dinesh Karthik said, “I believe in him. We have the opener that India wants, and I hope that they back him. In one year’s time, if there is a series where he has a couple of low scores, I hope people don’t have a very short memory. They need to value what he is doing today, and that matters a lot." 

Dinesh Karthik urges fans to show patience with KL Rahul 

Former India star Dinesh Karthik has urged the fans to show more patience with KL Rahul in case the runs dry up. India had dropped Rahul during the recent series at home versus New Zealand after his dismal performance in the first match. “People tend to forget that a lot of Test cricketers are judged on what they do away, and he’s been as good as anyone who’s ever played for the country in some period of time," said Dinesh Karthik. 

The former India star also added, “We always complain about his consistency. And I think that’s something that he takes upon himself, and he hasn’t been that... The average suggests that 34 is what he averages as we speak, but he is way better than that.”

“He is someone who is much, much better than that. But if you just take any Indian team that wants to tour abroad, he’d be one of the earlier names that you’d put in that list because you know what you’re gonna get from him,” Dinesh Karthik ended by saying.
