Indian cricket star Shreyas Iyer has sent a timely reminder to the selectors with his brutal knock against Odisha. The 29-year-old scored 233 runs from just 228 balls with the help of 24 fours and 9 sixes. This helped the defending Ranji Trophy winners to head into lunch on the second day at 556/4 from 120 overs at lunch.

Shreyas Iyer hasn’t played Test cricket for India since the game against England in Visakhapatnam. Iyer lost his BCCI contract and was also released by KKR just months after helping the team to their third IPL title win. The latest century comes at the right time as Indian batters are struggling for form with the bat.

Siddesh Lad was batting on 165 from 331 balls with the help of 17. The former Mumbai Indians star added 354 runs for the fourth wicket with Iyer. The stand came in 73.2 overs as the home outplayed the visitors. Ajinkya Rahane though had a game to forget as he was out for a first-ball duck to Biplab Samantray.

Aakash Chopra backs Indian star to become most expensive IPL player

Former Indian opening batter Aakash Chopra has backed Rishabh Pant to become the most expensive player during the IPL 2025 auctions. The 27-year-old was released by Delhi Capitals last Thursday in a rather unsurprising move. It was touted that the player wanted to go into the auction pool after failing to agree on the price for his retention.

Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel “The big thing is who all have kept themselves in the ₹2 crore bracket. A lot of Indian players, which includes KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. Rishabh Pant could be the most expensive player in IPL history. He can go above 25-26 crores”

The former Indian star also added “I can see at least three teams going absolutely hammer and tongs. PBKS has 110 crores and RCB has 83 crores. I feel a lot of money will be spent when they fight amongst themselves," Even Delhi Capitals could make a play for Pant if they decide to use their RTM for the player.
