Out of favour Indian batter Shreyas Iyer has sent a huge reminder to IPL teams with his century against Goa on Saturday. The 29-year-old smashed 130 unbeaten runs from just 57 balls with 11 fours and 10 sixes with a strike rate of 228. Mumbai finished with 250-4 from their 20 overs. Prithvi Shaw, making his comeback, scored 33 from 22 balls.
Shreyas Iyer was released by Kolkata Knight Riders after leading them to a title win earlier this year. The 29-year-old will be expected to get a huge bid during the IPL Auctions that are set to be held on the 24th and 25th of November. Iyer has been in good form with the bat in the last few games for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.
Some of the leading Indian players are also playing in the tournament. Hardik Pandya is set to play under his brother Krunal for Baroda during the season. Suryakumar Yadav isn’t part of the Mumbai side that is taking on Goa in the first round of matches on Saturday.
Tilak Varma scores a punishing century against Meghalaya
In-form batter Tilak Varma scored his third successive ton in T20 cricket. The left-handed batter had scored two centuries during the final two matches against South Africa. Tilak Varma scored 151 off 67 balls against Meghalaya and his knock contained 14 fours and 10 sixes. Meghalaya were all out for 69 as Hyderabad won by 179 runs.
In other matches, Saurashtra beat Sikkim by 54 runs while Himachal Pradesh beat Arunachal Pradesh by 8 wickets. Venkatesh Iyer also served as a huge reminder to KKR with 36 runs from 15 balls as Madhya Pradesh scored 216 runs against Mizoram.
Yuzvendra Chahal picked 4/9 from his four overs as Haryana bowled out Manipur for 86 and won the match by 8 wickets. All eyes will be on Mohammed Shami who will be playing a few games for Bengal when they face Punjab in Rajkot. It is a key game for the 34-year-old who is looking to make it to the Indian squad for the final few games of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
