After having an incredible tournament so far, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have finally tasted defeat against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 24th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Moreover, it was a forgettable match for RR captain Sanju Samson as he was fined a hefty amount of Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during the game. The audience might have had a good time as the match was a last-ball thriller after which GT won by three wickets.
Both captains had a terrific match as Samson scored 68 runs off 38 balls and Shubman Gill scored 72 runs off 44 balls. However, Samson ended up on the losing side as Rahul Tewatia (22 runs off 11 balls) and Rashid Khan's (24 runs off 11 balls) short cameos helped GT win their first away match. With this, RR lose their first match of the season in their backyard.
Even though the match was interrupted by rain for the most part, it was a lucky day for GT as they managed to chase 199 runs and move up the points table. The combined effort of the team helped them clinch this victory which shocked the entire cricket fraternity. Amidst this, RR's Kuldeep Sen bowled extremely well taking three crucial wickets for the team.
'Hardest job in the tournament...' - Sanju Samson was shocked after losing a match against Gujarat Titans
After losing the match against the Gujarat Titans, RR captain Sanju Samson was left speechless. He accepted the fact that the match was overwhelming for him and he needed time to process the loss. Although the team played well, it was pure efforts from Rashid Khan who got the team through the victory line. Moreover, Samson played a captain's knock which went in vain as they lost the match by three wickets.
"I think the last ball of the game (where was the game lost?). Very hard to speak at the moment. The hardest job in the tournament is when a captain loses the game and has to tell where the game was lost. When the emotions come down I'll be able to tell clearly. Have to give credit to the Gujarat Titans," said Sanju Samson at the post-match presentation.
