Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), was spotted having a heated conversation with captain Rishabh Pant at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Monday, April 1, after the team's defeat against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). LSG, batting first, was able to put 171/7 in the 20 overs. The game was won by eight wickets as Punjab Kings easily chased down the target in only 16.2 overs.
After their defeat, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was spotted having a heated conversation with Rishabh Pant, who is also struggling with the bat this season. It looked like Goenka was irritated by his team's defeat in their opening home game of the season, and the images of their conversation have gone viral on social media.
Pant was dismissed for 2 runs by Glenn Maxwell and was caught by Yuzvendra Chahal, who was standing short fine leg. Again, Rishabh Pant failed to make an impression with the bat. His bad batting performance gets carried on, as he has only scored 17 runs in his first three games of the season. In the game against Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant was dismissed on duck after facing six balls, while in the SRH game, he scored 15 runs from 15 balls before getting out to Harshal Patel.
Rishabh Pant yet to prove his cost in IPL
Earlier, Goenka was observed talking with Pant for a considerable amount of time following the tournament's opening match against the Delhi Capitals (DC). Delhi Capitals did not retain Rishabh Pant for IPL 2025 and in the mega auction, he was picked for Rs. 27 crores by Lucknow Super Giants. Later LSG also named Rishabh Pant as their captain.
Pant hasn't been able to defend his cost, though, as he also committed some mistakes in wicketkeeping during the opening match. However as the IPL 2025 is underway Rishabh Pant is yet to make his impression for LSG. His poor form with bat continues.
