Australia gets one step closer to qualifying for the Super 8 after defeating England by 36 runs in the 17th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. After a brilliant performance with the bat, the Australian bowlers showed why they are called the most dangerous blowing attack in the world. England's middle order shattered like playing cards after the top-order batters' wickets fell. It was David Warner and Travis Head's day as they gave a perfect start to the innings.

England decided to put the Aussies to bat first, which backfired them. Travis Head and David Warner got off to a good start, scoring 34 runs off 18 balls and 39 runs off 16 balls, respectively. Their start helped Australia get past the 200-run mark, along with Marcus Stoinis's 30 runs off 17 balls. Chris Jordan was the standout bowler who took two wickets and conceded 44 runs for England.

The openers gave them a great start when England came out to bat. Phil Salt scored 37 runs off 23 balls, and Jos Buttler scored 42 runs off 28 balls. However, the middle order collapsed. Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa took two wickets each, taking Australia past the victory line. It was an incredible game of cricket, just as the audience had wanted to see it for a long time.

'The boys turned up well today' - Mitchell Marsh happy with team's performance

After an incredible win by 36 runs over England, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh is quite happy with the team's performance. It was a collective effort, and everybody, including the captain, played well. The bowlers did well restricting the English batters and won the game by a good margin.

"The way we started, we learned a lot of lessons from the first game and the boys turned up well today. The bowlers did their thing so well, we are an experienced team," said Mitchell Marsh at the post-match presentation.
