Australian star Pat Cummins stunned the world when he achieved his second T20 World Cup hattrick. The feat came against Afghanistan in St Vincent as Cummins became the first ever bowler to take two hattricks in the tournaments history.

What made it more special was the fact that the Aussie star had achieved this feat in two successive matches. His first hattrick had come in the game against Bangladesh where he had become the first Aussie bowler in 17 years to achieve the feat.

His first wicket in the hattrick was Rashid Khan who was caught by Tim David for 2 in the last ball of the 18th over. The first ball of the 20th over saw Karim Janat spoon a easy catch to give Tim David an easy catch for 13.

The big moment arrived when Gulbadin Naib came out to bat and the batter swung at the ball hard. The timing wasn’t good though as Glenn Maxwell took an easy catch to give Pat Cummins a chance to create history.

Australia on the cusp of Semi-Finals appearance if they beat Afghanistan

Team India’s win 50-run win over Bangladesh meant that the men in blue were almost through to the semi-finals. The attention was on the second game of the day between Australia and Afghanistan. If the Aussies win it would spell an end to Afghanistan’s chances of making it through to the next round.

Batting first, Afghanistan scored 148 on the board thanks to half-centuries by their openers. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran added 118 for the first wicket in 15.5 overs to dent the Aussie bowling unit.

Marcus Stoinis got the 1st wicket when he had Gurbaz out for 60 caught by David Warner. Adam Zampa then struck when he dismissed Ibrahim Zadran for 51 when he was caught by skipper Mitchell Marsh. The Aussie spinner also had dismissed Azmatullah Omarzai to end with 2 wickets .

It was then the Pat Cummins show as he dismissed the Afghanistan middle order and pegged them back to just 148 on the board. Travis Head was out for a duck when he was dismissed by Naveen-ul-Haq to give the Afghan side an early filip with the ball in the 2nd innings.
