Indian Cricket team yet again capitulated to the Sri Lankan spin bowling for the second game in a row. The star of the show for the home team was Jeffrey Vandersay who picked 6 wickets for 33 runs from his ten overs.

Barring the 64 by Rohit Sharma none of the Indian batters could face the trial by spin from the Sri Lankan side.

With this win the Sri Lankans have now taken 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The first game of the series ended in a tie thanks to an unfamiliar batting collapse by the Indian team.

Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma on the other hand will be worried as they have lost a game from a winning position. The final match of the series is to be played on Wednesday at the same ground and India will have to win the game to tie the series.

Sri Lankan spinners run riot against India once more

It was a disappointing day for the Men in Blue as they lost the second ODI to Sri Lanka by 32 runs. Chasing 241 runs to win the game, India were bowled out for 208 runs with Arshdeep Singh being the last man to fall via run-out.

Sri Lanka had batted first after winning the toss and posted 240 runs on the board. The earlier impetus was given by the 74-run stand between Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis. The finishing touches to the innings were given by Kamindu Mendis and Dunith Wellage.

India began with the 97-run stand between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. The pair went after the home team bowlers as Rohit Sharma in particular took charge. That stand was broken when Jeffrey Vandersay removed Rohit Sharma and followed it up with the wicket of Shubman Gill.

The veteran spinner then got the wickets of Shivam Dube, Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli and finally KL Rahul. This left India in a huge spot of bother as Axar Patel tried his best to fight back. The left-handed batter scored 44 runs but it wasn’t enough as he fell to a sharp caught and bowled chance taken by Charith Asalanka.
