The third season of the SA20 is set to begin it's journey on January 9, 2025. SA20 League Commissioner Graeme Smith announced the start of the league as the first two seasons have been quite successful. The tournament will last one month and end on February 8, 2025. SA20 has been quite good for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, who have won in both seasons.

"Following two successful seasons, our aim is to continue dominating the South African summer and offer fans an opportunity to witness some of the biggest names in world cricket, both in stadiums and through global broadcasts. We are excited to present another thrilling sports and entertainment extravaganza for players and fans," said Smith.

The SA20 tournament consists of five teams: Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Pretoria Capitals, Durban’s Super Giants, Joburg Super Kings, Paarl Royals, and MI Cape Town. The best part about the tournament is that all the teams are owned by the franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The fan base of these teams has reached the entire world, and they love to watch the league. Hence, the arrival of season three is not surprising.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape are two-time champions

Where a team isn't able to win at least once, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape has won the SA20 title twice in two years and will be looking forward to winning it for the third time as well. They have always had a strong team and played some sensible cricket due to which they were able to outplay everyone in the tournament for two consecutive seasons.

In the first season, the Sunrisers defeated Pretoria Capitals (PC) by four wickets, while in the second season, they defeated Durban's Super Giants by a massive score of 89 runs. In 2024, Tom Abell was given the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance in the finals.
