Rohit Sharma gifts special signed bat to Mumbai teenager for first England tour

In what seems to be a heartwarming gesture by the former India Test skipper and current ODI skipper, Rohit Sharma, he gifted a signed bat to Mumbai’s teenage cricket prodigy, Ayush Mhatre. Notably, Mhatre has been appointed as the skipper of the India U-19 side, which will be touring England for an all-format series against England U-19.

The young CSK star Ayush Mhatre revealed this news of getting a Rohit Sharma-signed bat gifted ahead of his career’s big England tour as India U-19 skipper. He shared a photo on his Instagram handle, with Rohit Sharma, posing with the gifted bat.

“A bat, a blessing, and a memory of a lifetime — thank you Rohit da,” read the caption of Mhatre’s Instagram post.

Earlier in the Indian Premier League 2025, Mhatre made it to the headlines for his sensational outings while playing for the Chennai Super Kings. He scored 240 runs in seven innings, with a decent average of 34.28 and a stunning strike rate of 188.97, hitting a half-century. Later, as a reward for his brilliant performances, he, alongside another teenage prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, also made it to the India U-19 squad for the England tour.

The 17-year-old also shared the dressing room with Rohit Sharma when the latter showed up for a Ranji Trophy game against Jammu and Kashmir earlier this year. Mhatre also shared his experience of sharing the dressing room with Rohit.

“Started playing cricket by watching him bat on television, to sharing a dressing room with my idol was such an unreal moment. Lots of learning to take forward,” said Mhatre.
