India fielding coach T. Dilip has once again announced the medal to honour the best fielder of the team in the game during the India vs. Pakistan clash, which took place on June 9 in New York. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. defeated the Men in Green by just 6 runs, putting them at the bottom of the points table in the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. It seems that the best fielder medal is given to that player who not only takes stunning catches but also executes a run, saves runs, or does glove work behind the stumps.

Notably, there were a lot of top performers from Indian Camp as they pulled off a magnificent six-run win and defended 119 runs in the 20 overs against Pakistan. Following the same, Indian fielding coach T. Dilip gave a small speech in the dressing room and congratulated the team on their victory and praised the fielding efficiency, which helped them pull the game back.

Today was a great example of ‘when the going gets tough, the tough gets going’. One thing which stood out today was the sheer commitment towards excellence in fielding. In high-pressure situations, being proactive is extremely important,” Dilip said.

I had tears in my eyes when I read about his accident: Ravi Shastri

However, it was India's cricketer Rishabh Pant, who was brilliant behind the stumps, who got the best fielder award. The 26-year-old cricketer bagged the award from former India head coach Ravi Shastri, who was in New York for the commenatry duties for official broadcasters.

Shastri said, “I had tears in my eyes when I read about his accident, when I saw him in the hospital, it was even worse. For him to come back from there and to be playing one of the biggest games of all time India vs Pakistan was a fantastic display. Batting, everybody knew, but your wicketkeeping and the range of movement is a tribute to the hard work you put in. Its an inspiration to millions around the globe that you can snatch a win from the jaws of death.”
