India set to take on USA in bid to confirm place in Super 8 stages

With two wins from two matches, India have four points from two games and are at the top of the table. Rohit Sharma and his side will next play co-hosts United States of America on Tuesday and a win will ensure them qualification for the next phase of the tournament.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s words played a pivotal role in India’s 6-run win over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup game on Sunday. At one stage India was coasting to a target of more than 140 but lost their way as they lost quick wickets to be bowled out for 119.

Speaking at the end of the game Rohit Sharma said “With a bowling lineup like that you feel confident to do the job. Halfway through the stage when they were batting, we got everyone together and said that if it can happen to us, it can happen to them. Little contribution from everyone can make a huge difference”

The 37-year-old also lauded Jasprit Bumrah and the huge turnout of fans who had come to see and support the Indian team. “We all know what he can do. Not going to talk too much about him. Want him to be in that mindset throughout the WC. He's a genius, we all know that. The crowd was superb. They never disappoint wherever we play. I'm sure they'll be going home with a big smile. It's just the start, we have a long way to go”
