India's star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is likely to miss the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka series. He has reportedly informed the BCCI and skipper Rohit Sharma regarding the break after the T20 World Cup 2024. While the reasons are unknown, one of the officials said, "The break from ODIs is for very personal reasons." Moreover, he'll be back as India's skipper for the T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Even though he is fit now, his fitness concerns might lead to captaincy. Now that Gautam Gambhir has been made the head coach, he wants all the players to dedicate their time to cricket, and Hardik's inconsistency in white-ball cricket might be concerning.

"It is a delicate matter. There is an argument on both sides of the debate and thus everyone is not on the same page. Hardik's fitness is an issue but he played a big role in breaking India's ICC jinx. As for Suryakumar, we have received feedback from the team that the dressing room well received his captaincy style," said a BCCI source as quoted by Indian Express.

He is available for the three-match T20I series and will lead the side: BCCI source

While the injury concerns are floating all over the internet, a BCCI source has revealed that he'll be captaining India in the shortest format of the game against Sri Lanka. India will play a 3-match T20I series against the Lankan Lions in the month of July. Hardik was one of the main reasons India won the T20 World Cup 2024 and the nation wants to see him back in the team.

"Hardik Pandya was India's T2O vice-captain under Rohit Sharma. He is completely fit and available for the three-match T20I series and will lead the side," said a senior BCCI source as quoted by PTI.
