In a turn of events, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pace bowler Harshit Rana has gotten a call-up from management to be a part of the upcoming 3rd Test match against New Zealand. As per reports, the Board has included him in the squad for the last Test match, which will take place at the Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai. This might be a chance for him to participate in the Test match after a successful outing in the last Ranji Trophy game against Assam.

He was released from the squad to play a Ranji Trophy game, where he claimed a fifer and scored a half-century. The purpose behind the release was served as he performed well in the match and, hence, returned to the squad. "The team management wanted me to play domestic before going to Australia and I am glad that I did well in this match both with bat and ball," said Rana after the match.

Rana has been travelling with the team for a long time now but hasn't been able to play any matches. He was with the team from T20Is to Test series. However, management's plans to take him into the playing XI right after the release of the retention list seem to be a big conspiracy.

Is Gautam Gambhir involved in helping KKR?

All signs point to Gautam Gambhir being the eternal saviour for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by keeping Harshit Rana away from the team until the retention lists are out. Now, KKR can retain him for INR 4 crores as an uncapped player, and then he will make his debut on the Indian team. It all started with Rana's inclusion in the Indian team when the young team went to Sri Lanka to play a T20I and ODI series under Gautam Gambhir.

He didn't get to play a match in Sri Lanka, and neither did he play a match against Bangladesh. But now, he might make his debut against New Zealand. The questions revolve around Gambhir's loyalty to KKR and whether he is involved in this conspiracy. While nothing can be proved, and everything will remain in theories, Harshit Rana's a lot of people will wait for Rana's debut.
