Rashid Khan has been playing international cricket since 2015. However, he had just played three T20Is against India and never claimed a wicket against them, however, today, he got his first wicket against the Men in Blue in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Fortunately for him, his first wicket was Rishabh Pant, which will be memorable since the batter was looking in great touch but was dismissed after trying a reverse sweep shot. The ball hit his pads, however, the wicketkeeper-batter went for the DRS but the ball was clearly hitting the stumps, and Pant (20) was given LBW (leg before wicket).

That was not it. Rashid went on to dismiss Virat Kohli (24) and Shivam Dube (10) later on, who failed to understand the ball and played a risky shot. In four overs, he claimed three wickets and conceded just 26 runs. Altogether, he bowled with an economy of 6.50, which is pretty decent.

Talking about India's innings, Fazalhaq Farooqi drew the first blood for Afghanistan as he dismissed skipper Rohit Sharma in the second over of the game for just 8 runs. Afghanistan bowled well, as they didn't allow the batters to settle down for once. Until the 15th over, India scored 128/4 with Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya batting efficiently.

All Super 8 games are must-win games for India

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has divided the eight teams who are qualified for the Super 8 into two groups, Group 1 and 2. While India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Australia are in Group 1, South Africa, England, the West Indies, and the USA are in Group 2. Now that the matches are limited, and teams will get only three chances to play in the Super 8, each and every game is essential for all the teams.

When discussing India, they might go past Bangladesh and Afghanistan, but the competition will be the mighty Aussies. India will take on Australia on June 24th, which will be their most crucial match. If they want to qualify for the semi-finals, they must win against Australia and book a seat to the next stage. If, by any chance, India loses against Australia, they'll have to depend on other teams' matches for qualification. Hence, the safest option will be to play good cricket and get the much-needed victory over Australia.
