Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set to host Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) game on Thursday. This is the fourth game for RCB at home, and they are yet to win a game at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. So far, RCB has played against Gujarat, Delhi, and Punjab and have lost all the games. Currently, RCB are in the fourth spot with 10 points so far in the ongoing season.
Skipper Rajat Patidar addressed the media ahead of the game and was asked to reveal his team’s struggles at home. Patidar said that bowling first helps the bowlers since there is a good amount of help on the wicket. In each of the previous three encounters, the team chasing has been able to win the game.
Bengaluru’s skipper as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo, said, “Absolutely, you are right, the shot selection matters. Because this time the wickets are two-paced wickets and the bounce is varying, so I think the bowlers are getting a lot of help, the way their ball is dipping, the way they are getting the bounce, so I think the more we focus on hitting behind square of the wicket, the better it will be”
Last chance for Rajasthan Royals to keep their season alive
Sanju Samson is confirmed to miss the game against RCB on Thursday. The 30-year-old had injured himself in the game against Delhi Capitals and also missed the subsequent game against Lucknow Super Giants. Riyan Parag is yet again set to lead the side in what will be his fifth game as the captain of RR.
If the Royals lose this game, then their journey in the IPL could be on the brink of ending early. The Royals currently have four points from eight matches and are tied on points with Hyderabad and Chennai in the points table. In the last game, RR lost by two runs to Lucknow despite being in a position of strength at one stage.
Yashasvi Jaiswal will play a key role with the bat, having found his form in the last few games of the season. Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be keenly looked at after his powerful start to his IPL career. Jofra Archer and former RCB star Wanindu Hasaranga will be tasked with the job of leading RR to win with the ball. For RCB, it is a huge chance to finally end their home jinx and register at their first points of the season in front of their fans.
