Ravindra Jadeja credits domestic cricket return as reason for good performance in ODI series against England

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja credited his return to domestic cricket as a reason behind his return to form in ODI cricket. Jadeja has picked six wickets so far from two matches with three wickets in both Nagpur and Cuttack’s ODI matches. The 36-year-old also hit the winning runs as India secured 2-0 unbeatable lead in the series.

India today quoted Jadeja as saying, “Playing the domestic matches helped as the number of overs I sent down helped me get into rhythm. After almost two years I am playing ODIs and was trying bowl same lines and lengths as Test matches. What we call the rhythm, the continuity, was in place because my break from cricket wasn't that long. So in my view, I have benefited from the domestic match that I played."

Apart from Ravindra Jadeja, the likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant had played domestic matches. The 36-year-old picked 12 wickets for Saurashtra when they took on Delhi in the penultimate round of group matches. 

Veteran delighted with Rohit Sharma’s return to form 

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored his 32nd ODI century during the second ODI on Sunday. The 37-year-old scored 90-ball 119 the ease concerns over his form during Champions Trophy 2025. Rohit was named Man of the Match for his efforts with the bat as India won by four wickets. 

Speaking about Rohit’s return to form, Jadeja said, “Sometimes, it just takes one or two innings to turn things around. The good thing is that, before an important tournament like the Champions Trophy, scoring a hundred is a huge boost. It’s great for the team, and obviously, he himself knows his game well. There’s nothing much to think or discuss."

Ahmedabad will host the final match of the series on Wednesday before the two sides depart to play Champions Trophy. Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness has become a huge cause of concern in recent. When asked to comment on pacer’s likely status for the tournament, Jadeja was quoted by India Today as saying, “I have no news about Bumrah. If he is fit, that will be great for the team and the country."
