Pakistan receive major blow as star bowler gets injured during Champions One-Day Cup 2024

Before the start of the crucial series against England, the Pakistan cricket team received a major blow as one of the best players, Shaheen Afridi, suffered an injury. This injury occurred during the Champions One-Day Cup 2024 when he was playing for the Lions. The Lions took on the Dolphins on Sunday, where the Dolphins won the game by 16 runs. 

However, things took a different tangent for the pacer as he injured his left knee after being hit on the leg when he came to bat. Faheem Ashraf's delivery hit Shaheen on his left knee, and the injury was quite serious as the player had to leave the stadium and couldn't walk for some time. He received help from the physio and the other players and was escorted toward the dressing room.

But he returned to bat after the fall of the next wicket, scoring an unbeaten 33 (28). His innings included five huge sixes. After the game, Shaheen was asked about his injury, and he opened up and said that he was fine now. "My knee is fine. I had dived earlier in the outfield, so I already had a cut with swelling, then it got hit while batting, so it was paining a bit," said Shaheen Afridi.

Dolphins' terrific team performance helped clinch victory against Lions in Champions One-Day Cup

In the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup 2024, the Dolphins beat the Lions by 16 runs, which was a thriller. Muhammad Akhlaq and Umar Amin were the main reason behind their win, as the players scored 52 and 75 runs, respectively. Other players contributed to the team's total, which went up to 326 runs in the first innings. Aamer Jawal was the main bowler who claimed three wickets for the Lions.

Even though Rohail Nazir and Khushdil Shah tried their best to help the Lions clinch victory, other team members didn't support them, which became the cause of their defeat. Both players scored 62 and 60 runs, respectively. Saud Shakeel and Abbas Afridi took two wickets each for the Dolphins, taking their team past the victory line.
