Cricketer-turned-commentator, Navjot Singh Sidhu praised star India batter KL Rahul for his flexibility and versatility as a cricketer. Rahul has lived up to the expectations as he was given various roles during matches which he performed quite successfully. In recent times, he has been one of the most consistent and flexible players who can bat gracefully at any given position and hence, Sidhu called him a 'Spare Tyre'. However, the explanation which the commentator gave has won the hearts of the people.
"KL Rahul deserves a lot of praise. You play him at no 3 or 4, you play him as a wicketkeeper or as an opener, he has adapted to a lot of roles. Similarly, you would've noticed that behind a jeep there is a spare tyre. In case there's an emergency or a puncture, that spare tyre can be put on any of the wheels. Not everyone has that ability," said Sidhu on Star Sports.
In the ongoing IPL, Rahul started the tournament with a bang by scoring a half-century in the first match. Although he hasn't managed to maintain consistency yet, considering his stature, it's obvious that he'll bounce back soon and perform well for his team.
Lucknow Super Giants' great start to IPL 2024
The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have started their IPL 2024 tournament on a really good note winning two out of three matches. While they have a strong line-up, the overseas players are in red-hot form and performing well. Moreover, the youngsters are also having a good tournament so far and if they continue to perform well, LSG can be one of the teams to qualify for the play-offs.
LSG has beaten Punjab Kings and RCB by 21 and 28 runs, respectively which proves their bowling strengths. The only concern for the team might be captain Rahul's fitness as he played as an impact player in two matches. Other than this, the team is quite sorted and should look to continue their momentum for the rest of the tournament.
