The Lucknow Super Giants franchise has shown a lot of confidence in the West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran ahead of the IPL 2025. Instead of KL Rahul, they have retained Pooran as their 1st retention, which was a pretty bold move. They have paid a whopping amount of INR 21 crores to retain the player for the upcoming three seasons of the IPL. Pooran revealed that there is no pressure on him from the franchise and that the atmosphere of the team is extremely good.
"At LSG, I've never felt the pressure, never felt I have to score runs or something. You want to stay in a place like that. No additional pressure," said Pooran.
This came in amid the controversy between owner Sanjiv Goenka and former captain KL Rahul. As per reports, LSG was ready to give Rahul a good amount during the retentions. However, the player didn't want to work with the franchise any longer and asked them to release him.
Soon after the retention list was released, Sanjiv Goenka came up with a statement that looked like an indirect attack on KL Rahul. Goenka said, "We wanted a player who have the mindset to win.We wanted to retain a player who puts the team first ahead of their personal milestones."
Mega Auction 2024 is scheduled to be conducted on November 24 and 25
The Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Board has declared the dates for the mega action 2024, which will be held on November 24 and 25. The franchise owners will travel to Riyadh for two days to participate in the auction.
Players like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer will be auctioned, and the franchises will get a chance to bid for them. The franchises have released the retention list, and there were quite a few shockers. However, the release of Shreyas Iyer was extremely shocking since he won the finals for KKR in 2024.
