Former legendary India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has now established himself as a well-known cricket analyst, with some amazing videos on his YouTube channel ‘Ash Ki Baat’. The former off-spin great has come up with some big statements while speaking about the Indian cricket team, especially the skipper Rohit Sharma and the modern-day batting great Virat Kohli.
Ashwin’s comments on Rohit and Kohli have also made it to social media as soon he shared a video on his YouTube channel. The major media outlets in India consider Ashwin’s statements so important that they cover these as a priority news story.
Meanwhile, an unfortunate moment occurred on X (formerly Twitter) when a user attributed a fake quote to Ashwin’s name and mentioned the retirement decisions of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma after the conclusion of the Champions Trophy 2025.
A post on X quoted Ashwin saying that Kohli will hang his boots in his ODI career to be with his family while Rohit might look ahead to continue playing till the ICC ODI World Cup 2025.
Furthermore, the post happened to go through the eyes of Ashwin himself, who didn’t make much delay in coming up with a clarification while slamming the X user for attributing a fake quote without any double-check on the same.
“Heartwarming to see humans still excelling at creative storytelling in this AI era. Nice script but maybe check with me next time before casting me in the lead role?” wrote Ashwin while replying to the post shared by a user, which claimed that the statement was given by Ashwin.
Here’s a look at Ravichandran Ashwin’s X-post:

Notably, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be in action for India against New Zealand in the upcoming highly anticipated final of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Kohli has been in a brilliant run of form with the bat in the ongoing edition of the tournament, including the match-winning 84-run knock in the must-win semi-final game against Australia.
