The wait of 17 years ended after India lifted the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 by beating South Africa by 7 runs. This win is absolutely special for all the Indians as it came after a long wait. After winning the trophy, head coach Rahul Dravid was elated and sad at the same time as his tenure with the team ended. While talking about his future plans, Dravid jokingly said that he'll be unemployed from now on.

"I will be able to move on quickly from this win, next week I will be unemployed (laughs). I don't want to think too far ahead, but yes, I hope, I will be able to move on. I think that's what life is all about," said Dravid as quoted by PTI.

India and South Africa entered the finals with an unbeaten record in the tournament. While the Proteas almost won the game, Indian bowlers snatched it away from them. Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and vice-captain Hardik Pandya were phenomenal during the last five overs of the game, which was the main reason behind India's victory.

I am glad that a bit of luck has resulted in this trophy: Rahul Dravid

After losing two consecutive ICC trophies last year, Rahul Dravid is glad India finally won the T20 World Cup 2024. While the coach and the players were elated about their win, Dravid went on to show gratitude towards the stars behind the Men in Blue's victory. Moreover, Virat Kohli's 76 runs off 59 balls will remain quite special for the fans as this was the only game where he performed well, and the results went in India's favour.

"I am glad that a bit of luck has resulted in this trophy. I couldn't be happier for this team, and I couldn't be happier for so many of the Indian fans who are coming out to these games," said Rahul Dravid.
