Former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif is eagerly looking forward to the India vs Pakistan game on Sunday. One player who will be under focus will be none other than former India skipper Virat Kohli.

Mohammad Kaif has asked Virat Kohli to show some restraint at the start of the innings. The 43-year-old wants Virat Kohli to bat for a longer time during the course of the tournament that believes that will be beneficial for India.

The right-handed batter is set to open the innings during the course of the tournament as said by Rohit Sharma. Indian skipper speaking during the press conference said that the opening position isn’t changing but the rest of the batting order will be flexible.

Mohammad Kaif’s advise to Virat Kohli

On the eve of the India vs Pakistan match, Virat Kohli has been advised to tone down his aggression by Mohammad Kaif. The former Indian cricketer was speaking to Star Sports ahead of the huge clash in New York on Sunday.

“Virat Kohli is a danger for every team, not just Pakistan. Any team playing against him won’t find it easy to get him out. However, I believe he needs to dial down his aggression a bit. In the last match, he scored only one run off five balls, stepped down the wicket, got a top edge, and was dismissed” was the statement made by Mohammad Kaif to Star Sports.

The last time Virat Kohli played against Pakistan in a T20 match during the World Cup in 2022 where he scored a memorable 82 not out. The 35-year-old comes into the tournament on the back of his 700 plus season with the bat for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2024.

Mohammad Kaif also said to Star Sports India “Virat can play every shot, but I think he needs to slightly reduce his strike rate. Aim for a strike rate of around 130 rather than 140-150. His role should be to bat for 15 to 20 overs and score 60-70 runs. A 70-run innings from Virat will be very valuable. He should take a bit of time at the start, wait for the bad balls, and then play his shots”
