Prithvi Shaw has always been involved in controversies throughout his career. He is also criticized for his wrong attitude and his fitness. However, he hasn't been able to change both things. Considering all these factors, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) selectors have dropped him from the upcoming clash against Tripura, which will start on October 26. The MCA Secretary Abhay Hadap, while speaking to the Hindu, clarified that Shaw needs a break and must go back and work on his fitness.

"He has been given a break. The selectors and the coach have had a discussion with him and have briefed him about areas to work on, including fitness," Abhay Hadap, the Mumbai Cricket Association secretary, told The Hindu.

While Shaw is a stunning batter, he has failed to remain consistent, which is one of the reasons why the selectors have been harsh toward him. He has scored only 139 runs in six innings for Mumbai this season. His best knock came against ROI in the Irani Cup 2024, where he scored 76 runs. Apart from that, he hasn't scored much runs in any tournament.

Mumbai's squad has several changes ahead of game against Tripura

While Mumbai will be led by Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav (personal commitments) and Tanush Kotian (India A duty) will miss the next game. Hence, the selectors called back left-arm spinner Karsh Kothari for the game. Apart from him, veteran player Akhil Herwadkar is also back in the team after a hiatus. The upcoming game will be quite interesting in the absence of some great players. The youngsters will have to take up the responsibility in order to win the game against Tripura.

Mumbai's squad: Ajinkya Rahane (Capt.), Ayush Mhatre, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Akhil Herwadkar, Shreyas Iyer, Siddhesh Lad, Suryansh Shedge, Hardik Tamore (wk), Sidhaant Addhatrao (wk), Shams Mulani, Karsh Kothari, Himanshu Singh, Shardul Thakur, Mohit Avasthi, Juned Khan and Royston Dias.
