The Australian spin wizard Nathan Lyon donated signed bats from legendary players Steve Smith, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah for a good cause. This was done to support the National Cricket Inclusion Championships (NCIC). Each of these bats comes with a Braille sticker that reads "A sport for all."
It's a great initiative taken by the Aussie bowler to help raise funds for Australian players with disabilities. They will be playing against each other to win the National Championship. The bats were donated to Taverners Australia, who will now auction the bats and get the funds for the players.
The NCIC will conduct the tournament that will be played between January 19 and January 24. A total of 22 teams will be playing in the tournament, who will represent seven states and territories. Moreover, the games will be hosted by the Marchant Park in Brisbane. Lyon donated the bat on January 9 to help the youngsters fulfil their dreams in the future.
Virat Kohli suffers neck sprain: Reports
While the DDCA urged Virat Kohli to be a part of the Ranji Trophy tournament, it is reported that he suffered a neck sprain and took an injection for it. While there are no official statements made on this news, a source mentioned that this could have been done to avoid playing in the Ranji tournament. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant is set to return to the domestic tournament and will be captaining the Delhi side. Until the Champions Trophy, Risbhabh is available and will have to take part as mentioned by BCCI.
One source, while speaking to the Times of India, said, “Virat Kohli had a neck sprain and even took an injection. There is a possibility of him skipping the first of two Ranji Trophy games left and a clear picture could come out if the DDCA selectors are given an update.”
