Ravichandran Ashwin: (X)
Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin received the BCCI Special Awards at the BCCI Naman Awards 2025. The event was held in Mumbai, where the cricketers were felicitated for their achievements in the sport. Ashwin was super happy about his accolade and spoke about how he dreamt of playing for India and standing next to the legend Sachin Tendulkar.
"My dream was to stand next to Sachin Tendulkar and play the game. It was gratification and a dream come true for a very normal middle-class guy. The entire journey has been a huge high, difficult to put a finger on a single performance. For me, the entire journey of discovery and rediscovery. I have evolved a lot as a cricketer and an individual. Built a lot of great relationships at the back half of my career," said Ashwin at the BCCI awards.
Tendulkar received the Col. CK Nayadu Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Indian cricket. He is one of the best players of his generation, and he has smashed bowlers like Wasim Akram, Brett Lee, and many more. He received a standing ovation from the entire crowd present at the awards ceremony.
Ravichandran Ashwin has all the time in the world to spend with his family members. When Harsha Bhogle asked about how his family is taking his retirement, Ashwin quite cheekily said that they were already tired of him. He also mentioned that he wasn't accustomed to staying at home all the time, but he is now enjoying it.
"They just kicked me out, they've had enough of me already. Look I've never been home for this stretch together. I have dropped children before, but dropping and picking up them and also being part of their daily routine something I didn't sign up for. But, I must admit I am enjoying quite a bit," added Ashwin.
