Musheer Khan expected to miss Irani Trophy for Mumbai after meeting with accident

Young cricket star Musheer Khan gets injured in a road accident while coming back from his home town and is expected to miss Irani Trophy 2024 tournament.

Young cricket sensation Musheer Khan met with an accident in UP. The incident took place near Lucknow on Friday. This means that Musheer Khan is now expected to miss the Irani Trophy game between Mumbai and the Rest of India. The game is set to be played at the Ekana Stadium from the 1st of October.

Mumbai Cricket Association put out a statement which read that the young was “stable, conscious, and well-oriented”. The statement also mentioned that the former Under-19 World Cup star is not in any danger. Musheer was travelling with his father Naushad and a few others when the vehicle lost control.

As per the statement by the Mumbai Cricket Association, the youngster has some “Fracture near the neck region”. It is learned that Musheer and his family were in their home town of Azamgarh and were making their way back to Lucknow. 

Mumbai Cricket Association posts further statement 

The Mumbai Cricket Association in a statement said “Once Musheer is deemed medically fit for travel, he will be flown to Mumbai for further evaluation and additional medical treatment. The timeline for his recovery will be determined following these assessments”

The statement ended with “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) medical teams are closely monitoring his progress to ensure he receives the best possible care."
19-year-old Musheer Khan played a key role in Mumbai winning the Ranji Title earlier this year. He scored a memorable double-century against Baroda before scoring a fifty in the semi-finals. The young batter also scored a patient century in the Ranji finals to announce his arrival. 

The biggest moment for the young batter came during the recent Duleep Trophy tournament. His innings of 181 for India B made headlines. Musheer scored his runs on 373 balls with 16 fours and 5 sixes. The young batter also added 205 runs for the 8th wicket Navdeep Saini after his side was reduced to 94/7 at one stage. 

Ajinkya Rahane has been named the captain of Mumbai while Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the rest of India. Sarfaraz Khan is also set to be part of the game after being released from the Indian squad which is playing the 2nd Test in Kanpur vs Bangladesh.
