One of the finest cricketers and a great captain in the history of cricket, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is celebrating his 43rd birthday on Sunday, July 7. While social media was flooded with wishes, beloved 'Thala' fans across the country also celebrated the special day. Meanwhile, a video of Dhoni cutting the birthday cake with his loved ones has gone viral on social media.

Dhoni's wife Sakshi shared a video on her Instagram where 'Captain Cool' was seen cutting the cake and having minimal birthday celebrations. Dhoni also shared the first slice of birthday cake with his wife. However, Sakshi’s hilarious gesture at the end of the video drew the attention the most.

She was seen seeking blessings from her husband by funnily touching his feet, before folding her hands in front of him. In response, Dhoni blessed her with a cheeky smile on his face. The video immediately went viral on social media, garnering comments from actor Ranveer Singh and former Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav.

Will Dhoni play one more IPL season?

Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020 and now features only in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to a record-equaling fifth title in 2023, the keeper-batter stepped down from the captaincy. He donned the yellow jersey for the first time as a pure player in the 2024 IPL.

Although there are speculations that the last edition was his last dance in the cash-rich league, there is no official confirmation of this yet. Fans are expecting the CSK talisman to play one more season.

Meanwhile, Dhoni recently took to his social media handles to congratulate Team India for winning the second T20 World Cup. It was 17 years after India's triumph led by Dhoni in 2007 that Rohit Sharma and Co. won the title in this format.

“WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS 2024. My heart rate was up, well done on being calm, having self-belief and doing what u guys did. From all the Indians back home and everywhere in the world a big thank you for bringing the World Cup Home. CONGRATULATIONS, arreeee thanks for the priceless birthday gift,” he wrote.
